Halab

Halab is probably better known as Aleppo: it's the second city of Syria. Its Arabic name Halab, or Halab As Shahab, is given after Abraham, who used to milk his cows for the benefit of visitors.

It's where friend and former colleague Lena lives with her husband Coco (Krikor). And it's a very mad place indeed...

They make AMAZING shawarmas here, totally different to anywhere else in the Middle East. It's like a burger and a wrap and a shawarma mixed together. Daft and utterly heart-attack inducing. Like Aleppo itself, now I come to think of it...
