Good, straightforward food

 

It doesn't all have to be from Larousse or that little nugget one picked up from Soyer, but these are recipes designed to be served up in company, so they at least nod in the direction of being food for entertaining.

 

Generally, I've tended to avoid stuff that needs a lot of last minute preparation: I'll always aspire to wandering into the kitchen and sauntering out, perfect food in hand, after 30 seconds or so. Never quite made it, but I maintain the aspiration.
